The keynote presentation will be by Nick Dorian\, Ph.D. on the “Secret Lives of Native Bees.” Dr. Dorian will introduce us to some of the fascinating wild bees of eastern North America and their varied lifestyles\, habitat needs\, and intricate relationships with native flowering plants and other insects. He will explain why they’re important for our environment. We’ll learn to notice\, appreciate\, and how to help these important pollinators in our community. \nThe evening will begin with a social gathering at 6pm\, dinner at 7pm\, followed by program and speakers. DESCRIPTION:Are microplastics decreasing our fertility? The dangers of using plastics have an unprecedented health toll on fertility\, puberty\, and much more. The documentary The Plastic Detox\, that debuted on Netflix on March 16\, 2026\, follows six couples with unexplained infertility as they take steps to reduce their exposure to plastics in the hopes it will help them conceive. It also follows the research of Dr. Swan and other experts in the field\, covering the impact on human development and showing how we can take matters into our own hands. \nBeyond Plastics will host a free webinar about the film with the director Louie Psihoyos; Shanna Swan\, PhD\, a scientist featured in the film; and Eric and Julie Isaac\, one of the couples featured in the film. \nRegister

Drop in anytime between 5pm and 7pm and meet us at Room A across from the Drucker auditorium to get personalized guidance\, ask questions\, and connect with trusted local resources. SUMMARY:Little Bugs in the Big City: Urban Pollinator Habitat Gardening
DESCRIPTION:With urban real estate at such a premium\, how do our smallest neighbors – especially pollinating insects – make their way? What can we do to help them survive and thrive? In the concrete jungle\, is it worth it to even try? Over two decades\, speaker Chris Kreussling has transformed a barren conventional landscape into a vibrant example of urban gardening for biodiversity. Using their garden as an example\, they will review some typical challenges for urban gardeners and explain how to find and create habitat opportunities in city gardens.  \nChris Kreussling (Flatbush Gardener)\, a New York Master Naturalist and Certified Interpretive Guide\, has gardened in NYC for 45 years. In their current small Brooklyn garden\, they grow over 150 NYC-native plant species\, and documented over 500 insect species. \nRegister
