Free Showing of ‘Blackwaters: Brotherhood in the Wild’

March 15 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Friday, March 15 at 5pm (doors open at 4:30). Brattle Theatre (40 Brattle St.,Cambridge).

We are excited to get together this coming Friday for a first-hand view of the challenges and the rewards of being Black in the wild. Join the Cambridge screening of a groundbreaking new film, “BLACKWATERS – Brotherhood In The Wild,” plus a discussion with the entire cast of the film and an after party? This film “encompasses the power of five Black men whose paths have been challenged with loss, defeat, fear, and pain by life’s ups and downs and social injustice challenges Black men and Black boys face every day…Through surviving life’s trials, each man has found grace and success in the outdoors, healed and mended by nature’s medicine to the soul, embracing the art of fly fishing and building brotherhood.”

Join the discussion afterwards with the cast of the film. Explore the possibilities for “dismantling the fear for BIPOC [Black, Indigenous and People of Color] and inspiring BIPOC to pursue their journey in the outdoors and uplift Black boys’ lives in green spaces.”

Register to Attend Film

The tickets for the film are free but you must register to receive tickets in advance. You can join the Meetup before the film at 3pm at El Jefe’s Taquería (14 Brattle St. in Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA) to meet other interesting folks working on the issues of our time. The film screening starts at 5pm followed by a discussion featuring members of the cast and crew. The fun continues across the street at the Patagonia Cambridge store for a social gathering at 7pm with beverages generously provided by Remnant Brewing. You must reserve the film ticket and 7pm after party tickets separately and in advance.
