A big thank you to everyone who joined us at the Environmental Leadership Celebration last weekend, and to all those who donated items and funds to make the event a success and to support our work. Together, we raised nearly $60,000 to power local climate action—an incredible show of community support.
Attendees joined in singing, tested their Green Newton and local environmental smarts with trivia, tried their luck with the Powering Tomorrow stand-up game, enjoyed a delicious dinner, and spent the evening connecting with others who care about the environment. And of course, there was plenty of friendly competition as people bid on great auction items.
We honored three inspiring awardees—Green Newton Co-founder Peter Smith, City Councilor Andreae Downs, and Mayor Ruthanne Fuller—and celebrated the many people in Newton advocating for clean air, clean water, and a sustainable climate.
Many thanks to our M.C., former Newton City Council President and current Green Newton Advisory Board member, Brooke Lipsitt, who kept the evening flowing smoothly and full of energy.
Thank you all for supporting Green Newton and local environmental action!
