We hope you had a meaningful Earth Day!
In honor of Earth Day 2018, Green Newton received a large donation of 500 reusable shopping bags from Star Market stores in Newton, and a group of community volunteers and students from Boston College’s sustainability club, Eco-Pledge, spent the warm spring afternoon yesterday handing them out to customers outside the Auburndale and Newtonville Star Market stores.
We hope residents will make a conscious effort to use reusable bags when they shop rather than accepting paper bags (or worse, the thicker plastic bags) offered in stores. Keep them in your car or by your entryway to help remind you to take them with you.
Our group is especially grateful to Star Market for its generous support of ongoing efforts to reduce paper and plastic waste in our community.

What I'm reading on the bus to Boston this morning: This wild story by @robertianlewis about how, since 2010, nearly half of CA's toxic waste has been trucked out of state to be disposed in places with more lax regulations 👀 https://calmatters.org/environment/2023/01/california-toxic-waste-dumped-arizona-utah/
