The climate roadmap bill that passed in 2021 specified that Massachusetts must reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. In addition to setting required emissions reductions to achieve net-zero, the 2021 climate roadmap bill also mandated the Commonwealth to write a Clean Energy and Climate Plan (CECP), the document that would lay out how to get there. The state has just released a draft outline of that plan.

The State of Massachusetts is collecting comments on its plan to reach net-zero in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Learn more about the current proposal as explained by the Green Energy Consumers Alliance and get information on how to make comments.

You can also visit the State’s Global Warming Solutions Act Implementation Team’s slide presentation on the CECP 2050. Currently, there is no full draft CECP 2050 document.
