The deadline for submitting comments on the City of Newton’s updated draft Climate Action Plan (CAP) is November 13.

Building on the City’s first ever 2020-2025 Climate Action Plan, this updated Plan reaffirms the City’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. The draft CAP is concise, highly focused, and incorporates resilience (in other words, it includes elements of the Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment).
Its goals span focus areas including:
- Buildings and Energy
- Transportation and Mobility
- Consumption and Disposal
- Resilience: Health and Natural Resources.
The final section, “What You Can Do” offers recommendations for Newton residents and businesses, mirroring these topics.
